Fertility rates have been dropping across the globe and there are several contributing factors. It could be due to poor lifestyle or certain health conditions such as PCOS or endometriosis among others. It is important to consult your doctor if you are not able to conceive naturally as there could be numerous reasons. However, if there’s no conclusive reason as to why you’re not conceiving, you could try and opt for natural methods to boost your chances of conceiving.
This could be drinking a certain beverage, consuming a certain food or making lifestyle changes. All of these help to boost your chances of conception as they give your body the right nutrients that help to enhance your reproductive health and keep everything functioning well.
Carmen Mair, a fertility nutritionist who helps people conceive, maintain pregnancies and deliver healthy babies highlighted a natural ingredient that you should add to your diet. This can make sure you get the necessary nutrients that help in conception and it can make a delicious tea.
According to a report in Mirror.co.uk, Mair took to TikTok to talk highly about an unconventional plant that you'd typically avoid during a countryside stroll; stinging nettles.
She said, “This little nasty plant can help you get pregnant. It’s called stinging nettle, and it’s packed with essential nutrients that you need to get pregnant. Vitamins A, C and K are in there, and it’s also rich in minerals like magnesium and iron. It can boost circulation to your reproductive organs and can also strengthen and tone your uterine muscles. Last but not least, it helps your body detoxify.”
The nutritionist warned against touching the plant directly due to its stinging properties, which can cause rashes, but noted the leaves can be safely added to smoothies. However, nettle tea is also available at several supermarkets and health food stores in a pre-packaged form.

Nettle acts as a natural antihistamine which can help reduce the severity of symptoms in people with hay fever like sneezing, itching and congestion. It inhibits the histamine receptors, thereby, easing seasonal allergies.

Stinging nettle has several important nutrients such as vitamins A, C and K, along with minerals like iron, magnesium and calcium. These help to improve bone health and boost the immune system among others.
